Description du contenu de l'enseignement

Sedimentary cycle and sedimentary rocks formation (mother rock weathering, erosion, transportation, sedimentation, diagenesis); factors controlling the rocks formation; hydrocarbon resources formation.

Compétences à acquérir

Be able to recognize the main sedimentary rock types with a reasoned diagnosis on macroscopic samples and on thin sections. Identify the main steps of the sedimentary cycle and their control factors. Be able to deduce the mode of formation of the main types of sedimentary rocks from the observation of rock samples. Be able to identify the conditions favorable to the formation of hydrocarbon resources.
