Description du contenu de l'enseignement

Spectroscopy: Introduction to interactions between electromagnetic waves and molecules: excited states of molecules, Jablonski diagram, vibrational modes, nuclear spin, etc. Fundamentals of UV-VIS absorption, infrared absorption and proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Application to the determination of the structure of simple molecules
Electrochemistry: Application of electrochemical thermodynamics to the study of E-pH (Pourbaix) diagrams and potentiometry (selective electrodes, titrations). Introduction to electrochemical kinetics (fast/slow redox systems, mass transport in solution, I-E curves).

Compétences à acquérir

-become familiar with the fundamentals and range of applications of spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques
-determine the concentration of analytes by using potentiometric, amperometric or spectrometric techniques
-identify simple molecules from their spectra
-predict the evolution of redox systems by using E-pH diagrams
